Cookie Policy Generator

Every website with analytics, maps or embedded videos needs a cookie policy that spells out what actually gets stored. The generator builds a clean declaration from 40+ predefined cookies and 8 presets under TDDDG Section 25 and the GDPR - with a ready-made cookie table and export as PDF, HTML or JSON for your consent tool.

What Cookie Policy Generator does

A cookie policy is not the same as a privacy policy, and not the same as the banner that pops up on your first visit. It is the complete, honest list: which cookies your site sets, who sets them, how long they stay, and what they are for. That transparency is exactly what the TDDDG (formerly TTDSG) and the GDPR require - and exactly what this generator handles for you.

At its core sits a library of more than 40 common cookies. Google Analytics, the Facebook pixel, Matomo, Hotjar, Google Tag Manager, YouTube embeds, your shop’s session cookies - you tick what you actually use, and the generator pulls in name, provider, purpose, storage duration and category automatically. No digging through third-party docs, no guessed expiry times.

Every cookie is sorted into four categories: necessary, functional, statistical and marketing. That is precisely the split your consent banner needs so visitors can accept or reject in a targeted way. Necessary cookies run without consent, everything else only after an active opt-in - the generator keeps that line clean and flags it in the table.

Eight presets cover the typical cases: from a lean landing page through the WordPress blog to an online shop with a full tracking stack. Pick a preset as a starting point and adjust it, instead of starting from scratch. Missing a cookie? Add it with your own values - the library is a suggestion, not a cage.

The result is a finished cookie table you can put straight on your site. As a PDF for your records, as cleanly formatted HTML to embed, or as JSON that many consent-management platforms like Cookiebot, Usercentrics or Borlabs read in directly. That keeps policy and banner consistent - what is in the table is what the tool can serve.

Important and honest: this tool produces a clean, structured document but does not replace legal advice. It does not know your cookies better than you do - what you do not enter will not appear. For complex tracking setups, international data flows, or when you are unsure, have an IT-law specialist review the final version. The generator gets you 90 percent of the way; the last stretch is a review.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick a preset

Start with the preset closest to your site - landing page, blog or shop with tracking.

  2. 2

    Select your cookies

Tick the services you actually use. Provider, purpose and storage duration are pulled in automatically.

  3. 3

    Check the categories

Verify necessary, functional, statistical and marketing are right. Your banner needs this to sort consent.

  4. 4

    Export and embed

Export as PDF, HTML or JSON and put it on your site or load it into your consent tool.

Who needs this

→Freelancers and agencies who need a cookie policy for client sites.
→WordPress and shop operators with analytics and marketing cookies.
→Developers who want to load the JSON export into a consent tool.
→Clubs and small businesses making their site GDPR-solid.
→Anyone who wants their existing cookie list documented cleanly and up to date.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a privacy policy?

The privacy policy describes all data processing on your site under Art. 13/14 GDPR. The cookie policy is the specific part that lists every single cookie with name, provider, purpose and storage duration. Many sites have both, and the cookie banner often links straight to the cookie policy.

Do I even need a cookie policy?

As soon as your site sets cookies beyond the technically necessary - such as analytics or marketing - you must inform transparently and obtain consent first. That follows from TDDDG Section 25 and the GDPR. A pure landing page without tracking may not need one.

Where do I find my cookies’ storage duration?

For the 40+ common services in the library, the storage duration is already filled in. For your own cookies you can see it in your browser’s developer tools under the Application or Storage tab - each cookie’s expiry date is listed there.

Can I load the export into my consent tool?

Yes. The JSON export is structured so common consent-management platforms like Cookiebot, Usercentrics or Borlabs can read it in. The HTML version can be embedded directly as a formatted page, and the PDF serves as documentation.

Is this legal advice?

No. The generator produces a clean, structured document based on your input, but does not replace legal advice. For complex tracking setups or international data flows, have the policy reviewed by an IT-law specialist.

What if a cookie is not in the library?

Then you add it manually: name, provider, purpose, storage duration and category. The library covers the most common services but is deliberately extendable - your setup is what counts in the end, not our list.
