We help you request your free data copy under Art. 15 GDPR - this is not legal advice. What is stored and how to correct it is settled with Schufa directly. Not legally binding.

Schufa Self-Disclosure

What Schufa has stored about you, you may find out for free - once a year and more, guaranteed by the GDPR. This tool builds the template letters for the free data copy from Schufa, Boniversum, CRIF Bürgel, infoscore, and Regis24, plus templates for rectification, erasure, and objection to scoring under GDPR Articles 15-22.

What Schufa Self-Disclosure does

Your creditworthiness decides on loans, rental flats, phone contracts, and sometimes even your electricity tariff - and you often have no idea what the credit agencies have stored about you. Yet Article 15 of the GDPR gives you a clear right: a free copy of all data held about you. This tool helps you exercise that right at several agencies at once, instead of letting it fail on confusing forms.

Schufa is the best known, but far from the only agency. There are further large providers such as Boniversum, CRIF Bürgel, infoscore, and Regis24, each holding their own data. That is exactly why a single request is not enough: a wrong entry can sit at one agency and not the next. The tool builds the matching letters for all relevant agencies so you get the complete picture.

The distinction between two kinds of disclosure matters. The free data copy under Art. 15 GDPR is comprehensive and shows you all stored data. Separate from it is the paid credit report that many agencies actively promote and that landlords or banks see. The tool deliberately targets the free data copy you are entitled to, and explains the difference so you do not accidentally pay for something owed to you.

Wrong entries are more common than you would think - settled claims that were not deleted, or mix-ups. That is why the tool provides not only the request but the follow-up steps: rectification under Art. 16 GDPR when data is wrong, and erasure under Art. 17 GDPR when an entry may no longer be stored. For each case there is a template naming the correct legal basis.

Scoring is a topic of its own. Agencies calculate a score from your data that decides on offers. Under Art. 22 GDPR you have rights against automated decisions, and the European Court of Justice has strengthened the agencies' transparency duties on scoring. The tool includes a template to demand information about the scoring factors and object to the profiling.

The whole process is built so you handle it yourself - no expensive service, no subscription trap. You fill in your data, the tool generates the finished letters, and you send them off. Your entries serve only to create the letters and are not reused for advertising. The agencies generally have to respond within one month.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose the agencies

Decide which agencies to request your data from - ideally all the relevant ones.

  2. 2

    Fill in your data

Enter name, address, and date of birth so the agency can identify you unambiguously.

  3. 3

    Generate the letters

The tool creates the letters for the data copy and, if needed, for rectification, erasure, and scoring.

  4. 4

    Send and review

Send the letters and review the response. The agency generally has to reply within one month.

Who needs this

People who want to check their data before a loan or rental contract.
Anyone suspecting a wrong or outdated entry who wants it deleted.
Consumers viewing their Schufa data for free once a year.
Data subjects demanding information on the factors of their score.
People after a loan rejection looking for the reason in the data.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Schufa disclosure really free?

Yes. The data copy under Art. 15 GDPR is free, and not just once a year. It should not be confused with the paid credit report that agencies actively promote. The tool deliberately targets the free data copy you are entitled to.

Why request from several agencies?

Because each agency holds its own data. A wrong or outdated entry can sit at one and not the other. Only by requesting from Schufa, Boniversum, CRIF Bürgel, infoscore, and Regis24 do you get the complete picture.

How do I get a wrong entry deleted?

If an entry is wrong, you demand rectification under Art. 16 GDPR. If an entry may no longer be stored, for instance because a claim was long settled, erasure under Art. 17 GDPR applies. The tool provides a template for both cases with the correct legal basis.

Can I challenge the score?

You have rights against automated decisions under Art. 22 GDPR, and the ECJ has strengthened transparency duties in scoring. With the scoring template you demand information on the decisive factors and can object to the profiling.

How long does a response take?

The agency generally has to respond within one month of receiving your request. In justified cases this period can be extended, but they must inform you if so.

Do I need proof of identity?

The agency must ensure it hands the data to the right person and therefore usually asks for proof of identity. Provide only as much data as is needed for identification. The tool helps you make the request complete but data-frugal.
