Mailbox

Email is still the bloodstream of digital bureaucracy, and yet life often spreads across several mailboxes: the personal address, the work one, the one you only use for government offices. The Mailbox brings them into one place. It connects to your existing accounts through the open standards IMAP and SMTP, so you never have to move to a new provider.

To keep setup from turning into a server-guessing game, the Mailbox knows the settings of the big providers. Type a Gmail, Outlook or GMX address and it pre-fills host names, ports and encryption automatically. For everyone else you enter the IMAP and SMTP servers plus security mode (TLS or STARTTLS) once by hand, and the rest just works.

The unified inbox stacks the inboxes of several accounts on top of each other, so you keep one list in view instead of five. Folders are preserved, so your existing structure reappears. Those who work tidy lose nothing; those who just want to see everything fast get one stream.

Full-text search ploughs through your messages so that one email from eight months ago does not vanish into the void. Email content is sanitized before display, so foreign HTML in a message cannot sneak anything in - security you do not see but need.

Because handling email is server work, the Mailbox runs as a self-hosted client on the Werkzeu.ge infrastructure, not at an ad company scanning your mail. As a Plus tool it is part of your workspace, not a separate service with its own login.

The goal is unspectacular and exactly for that reason valuable: read and write email without leaving your workspace. No context switch, no twelfth tab, no app cramming ads at you.
