An editor for quick jots and longer writing. It autosaves, though it is wise to back up long pieces yourself now and then.

Editor

A fast, honest editor for everything that needs to land between two thoughts. Multiple notes side by side, Markdown if you want it, find and replace, and auto-save to your Aktenschrank the moment you sign in. No baggage, no forced login - open it and type.

A look inside

With an account this preview becomes the real tool - right here.

What Editor does

Sometimes you just want a place to type without an app asking you three questions, demanding an account and then showing an onboarding tour. The Editor is exactly that: a text field that is there instantly, remembers everything and stays out of the way. You open it, write, and the rest happens in the background.

You are not limited to a single note. Create several notes, switch between them, rename them. The first line becomes the title automatically, so your list stays tidy without extra effort. Shopping list, meeting notes, half a blog post - all side by side.

If you write with structure, turn on Markdown: headings, lists, bold and italic with a few keystrokes. If you just want plain text, ignore it and type away. The Editor forces no format on you.

Find and replace is built in, including a match count and jumping from hit to hit. For the long text where a name is consistently misspelled, or the note you want to scan quickly. On top of that the Editor shows you live how many words and lines you have written.

Saving happens without a save button. Every two seconds your text lands locally in the browser. When you are signed in, your note also syncs to your Aktenschrank, into a dedicated folder called Editor, so it shows up across devices and sits in the backup. A closed tab costs you nothing.

Finished notes download as a TXT or MD file to hand off or open elsewhere. The Editor starts in guest mode without an account and works offline - a simple thing that stays simple.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to sign in to use the Editor?

No. The Editor starts in guest mode without an account and saves everything locally in your browser. If you sign in, it additionally syncs to your Aktenschrank.

Where are my notes stored?

First locally in your browser, automatically every two seconds. If you are signed in they also land in a folder called Editor in your Aktenschrank, making them available across devices.

Does the Editor support Markdown?

Yes, optionally. You can use Markdown for headings, lists and emphasis. If you only want plain text, just ignore Markdown.

Can I replace something across a long note?

Yes. Find and replace is built in, with a match counter and jumping from hit to hit. That fixes a consistently misspelled name in seconds.

In which formats can I download my notes?

You can download any note as a plain text file (TXT) or a Markdown file (MD) to hand off or open in another program.
