Contact Book

Contacts pile up everywhere: on your phone, in your mail app, in an old spreadsheet, on business cards in a drawer. The Contact Book brings them together. You import vCard files (the standard format every phone and mail client exports) or a CSV, and all the names, numbers, addresses and email addresses end up in one place, neatly sorted and searchable.

To keep things organized there are categories: personal, business, government office, doctor, tradesperson, insurance and other. That way the electrician's number does not sit between old dating matches, and the tax-office clerk is right where you need them for the next form. Each category has its own colour so the list stays readable at a glance.

Duplicate detection is the quiet hero. Anyone who has synced contacts between devices knows the result: every person listed three times, spelled slightly differently. The Contact Book puts these duplicates side by side so you can merge or delete them instead of scrolling through zombie entries forever.

Birthdays are the classic thing everyone forgets. Enter a date of birth and the next birthday shows up automatically in its own list, sorted chronologically. No more awkward belated wishes because a social network stopped nudging you.

For the paper mail that Germany still very much has, you print address labels straight from the Contact Book. The layout follows DIN 5008, the standard that authorities and companies expect for addresses. No fiddling in Word, no crooked alignment - pick a contact, print, stick.

Your contacts live locally in your browser and, when you are signed in, sync to your Aktenschrank. No selling of your address data, no advertising ID, no matching against third-party servers. An address book should belong to you, not to a data broker.
