Docx to PDF Lightning

Word file in, PDF out - and exactly the way the document really looks. Docx to PDF Lightning converts .docx, .doc, .odt, .rtf and .txt with the LibreOffice engine so fonts, tables, images and breaks are preserved faithfully.

What Docx to PDF Lightning does

Sending a Word document as a PDF sounds trivial but constantly goes wrong. The layout shifts, a font is missing and gets substituted, a table breaks in the wrong place, an image lands on the next page. Docx to PDF Lightning takes this off your hands and delivers a PDF that looks like the original, not like a makeshift approximation.

What makes it possible is the LibreOffice engine running on our servers. It is the same rendering quality you expect from a real office program: fonts are embedded, tables keep their shape, images sit in their place, headers, footers and page breaks are carried over. Not roughly rebuilt HTML but a pixel-perfect conversion.

The tool swallows not only .docx but also the older .doc, the open .odt from LibreOffice, the cross-platform .rtf and plain .txt. That covers pretty much every text document you come across without having to hunt for a program to open it first. Up to 50 MB per file is possible.

Because a faithful office conversion needs a real rendering engine, this step runs server-side - unlike most other PDF tools here that work entirely in the browser. Your file is sent to our conversion service for the transformation and processed there, the result comes back as a PDF. Pure client-side processing would not be possible for this task without sacrificing quality.

The tool is free to use and needs no signup. You pick your file or drag it into the window, the conversion runs, and you download the finished PDF - all without Word or LibreOffice on your own machine.

Frequently asked questions

Is the layout really preserved?

Yes. Because the real LibreOffice engine handles the conversion, fonts, tables, images, headers, footers and page breaks are preserved. The result looks like the original, not like an approximation.

Which file formats can I convert?

Word documents as .docx and .doc, LibreOffice documents as .odt, the cross-platform .rtf and plain text files as .txt. Up to 50 MB per file is possible.

Does the conversion run in the browser or on a server?

On a server. A faithful office conversion needs a real rendering engine that would not be possible in the browser alone. Your file is sent to our conversion service for this and processed there.

Do I need Word or LibreOffice?

No. You need no office program on your machine. The server does the conversion for you, you only download the finished PDF.

Is the tool free?

Yes, free and no signup. There is no watermark and no obligation to create an account.
