What Cancellation Deadline Monitor does
The silent contract renewal is one of the most expensive annoyances of German everyday life. The legislator did defuse automatic renewal with the Fair Consumer Contracts Act - for contracts concluded after March 2022 only monthly cancellation is permitted afterwards - but older contracts, insurance policies and many special cases still bind you for a whole year if you miss the deadline. The monitor makes sure that exactly this no longer happens.
Instead of scattering cancellation deadlines across a calendar, a notes app and your head, you enter each contract once in the Vertragsverwaltung: name, category, contract start, term and cancellation deadline. The monitor reads these contracts, calculates the latest cancellation date and shows for each contract how many days you have left. One glance and you know where action is needed.
The core is the colour-coded urgency. Contracts whose deadline is still far off appear calm, those with an approaching deadline change colour, and what must be cancelled now catches the eye immediately. That way you work through your list not chronologically but by real priority - no contract slips through just because it looks inconspicuous.
The contracts are organised by category: rent, insurance, mobile, internet, subscriptions, electricity, gas and more. Each category has its own colour so you see at a glance where your fixed costs accumulate. The monitor counts months as real calendar months, not as 30 days.
There is only one contract list: the one in your Vertragsverwaltung. It lives in your account, is the same on every device, and every notice deadline lands in the Fristenwächter by itself. For each contract you can add notes such as contract and customer number so you have everything to hand when cancelling.
In the end it is about money and nerves. Every contract you cancel in time or deliberately let run on is a decision you make - not one the fine print makes for you. The monitor turns the tedious remembering of deadlines into a calm overview that nudges you in time instead of annoying you afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
Do contracts renew automatically in Germany?
For consumer contracts concluded after 1 March 2022, automatic renewal by more than one month is no longer permitted - afterwards monthly cancellation applies. Older contracts, many insurance policies and business contracts can still bind you for a year, however, if you miss the deadline.
How does the monitor calculate the latest cancellation date?
From contract start, term and cancellation deadline it counts back from the contract end. The latest cancellation date is the day by which your cancellation must have reached the provider for it to still apply to the current contract end.
Where is my contract data stored?
In your account, in the Vertragsverwaltung. That is where you add and change contracts; the monitor only reads them. If you still had contracts in the old monitor in your browser, one click moves them into the Vertragsverwaltung.
Which contracts should I enter?
Everything with a fixed term and cancellation deadline: mobile, internet, streaming, gym, insurance, newspaper subscriptions, electricity and gas as well as your rental contracts. The more complete the list, the fewer nasty surprises.
Does the monitor send me a reminder?
Yes, through the Fristenwächter: every notice deadline from the Vertragsverwaltung is there by itself. The monitor also shows the urgency colour-coded and highlights contracts whose deadline is approaching.
