Text Lab

You rarely finish a text in one go. You count characters for a form field, check whether a paragraph is too tangled, hunt down filler words, compare two drafts and finally sweep away all the double spaces. Until now that meant one tool per task and one tab per tool. Text Lab bundles exactly those tasks into a single surface, with nothing new to learn.

The principle is honestly additive. Each of the nine tools stays reachable on its own and works exactly as before. The lab just lays a shared workbench on top: a rail of every tool on the left, the open tool at full size on the right. You click through without losing your text, and the lab remembers where you left off.

For analysis you get several angles at once. Statistics counts words, sentences and paragraphs and estimates reading time. The readability score turns that into a single number that tells you whether your text reads like a package insert or a tabloid. Word frequency shows without mercy which favourite word you used twelve times on one page. And the word and character counter keeps limits in view, whether for a tweet, a meta description or a cover letter.

When you revise, the next tools kick in. The contract diff puts two drafts side by side and marks every change, so you can see what the edit actually touched. The text cleaner strips whitespace clutter, leftover HTML, broken umlauts and crooked typography in one pass, and handles find and replace with regex when you need precision.

Then there are the specialists. Text Comparison puts two texts side by side, shows matching passages and surfaces self-plagiarism before anyone else spots it. The glossary builder collects terms and definitions and exports a tidy glossary, ideal for documentation and technical writing. And the subject-line scorer checks email subjects for length, spam words and open-rate potential before your message lands in the bin.

Almost everything runs locally in your browser. Your texts never leave your device and nothing is stored without your say-so. The one exception is Text Comparison: it calculates briefly on our server and stores nothing. That makes it fast, works offline and is exactly as data-frugal as it should be when you are working on confidential contracts, unpublished manuscripts or job applications.

Because every tool runs inside its own error boundary, one hiccup never drags down the whole lab. If a tool stumbles, that single panel shows a friendly message and the rest stays usable. You simply switch on instead of reloading the window.
