Spell Checker

Slips happen to everyone. They only get embarrassing once they land in the cover letter to a new employer, the email to the authority or the quote to a client. The spell checker reads your text once against fixed rules before anyone else does - and explains what the problem is for every finding instead of just underlining things in red.

Every German word is looked up in the free Hunspell dictionary de_DE_frami, the same one LibreOffice uses. Compound words like "Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung" are built by the dictionary's own rules instead of being flagged. On top come fixed rules: doubled words ("das das"), lower case at a sentence start, spaces before a comma or full stop, capitalisation of German nouns after articles, and the ss/ß and das/dass cases that can be decided for certain.

What it cannot do: grammar and style. A real but wrong word ("Ihr seit da" instead of "Ihr seid da") is not found, and names or technical terms that are not in the dictionary are flagged until you teach them as learned words. English texts get the rules only.

Every finding comes with a suggestion you apply with one click. The diff view then shows cleanly what changed - original and corrected version side by side, word by word. You stay in control instead of blindly trusting an automatism.

If the check flags a word that is right, such as your surname or a company name, tap "Learn word". Learned words stay in this browser and apply to the next text as well.

Checking runs on the werkzeu.ge server - your text is transmitted for the check, but it is not stored and not passed to third parties. And one honest note belongs here: no automatic check finds every mistake, and this one certainly does not. Read important texts yourself once more before sending.
