Sometimes it just has to be a proper document: a cover letter, a contract, a multi-page report with headings, tables and a footer. For that you need neither an expensive Office suite nor an installation. The Schreibmaschine is a full word processor that runs entirely in the browser and saves documents on the server, so you can carry on from any device.

First things first: full DOCX compatibility. You can open Word files someone sent you, edit them and return them in the same format without formatting falling apart. Alongside DOCX it also supports DOC, ODT, RTF and TXT. So you stay compatible with the rest of the world without needing the market leader's software.

The feature set is what you expect: formatting with bold, italic and underline, paragraph styles and style sheets, tables, images, hyperlinks, headers and footers, page breaks. Find and replace with Ctrl+H, undo and redo, rulers and formatting marks to toggle. For clean business mail you can reach straight for the DIN 5008 templates.

Finished documents export as PDF or ODT and print with Ctrl+P. Because the Schreibmaschine is part of CryonOffice, it shares its engine with the Tabellenkalkulation and the Beamer - you move within a single Office environment where word processing, spreadsheets and presentations belong together.

The Schreibmaschine is based on Collabora Online, a proven open-source Office engine running on our own servers in Europe - your documents do not travel through third-party data centres.
