What Password Generator does
A good password is long, random and unique. The catch: humans are terrible at randomness. We take the cat name, add an exclamation mark and feel safe. This generator takes that off your hands and rolls real randomness - cryptographically secure via your browser Web Crypto API, not the weak Math.random function.
Three modes cover every need. Password mode builds classic character strings from upper and lower case, digits and symbols, with adjustable length and a selectable character set. Passphrase mode strings together several random memorable words in the "correct-horse-battery-staple" style, in German, English or mixed. Pronounceable mode produces keys you can still type and dictate.
You have full control over the building blocks. Toggle upper case, lower case, digits and symbols individually, supply your own character set, or exclude confusable characters like 0 and O or l and I so the password does not cause typos when copied by hand. For passphrases you set the word count, separator and capitalisation.
Every result is rated instantly. A strength meter, the entropy in bits and an estimated crack time show you in black and white how resilient your password really is - from "cracked instantly" to "longer than the universe has existed". Ready-made presets provide fitting settings for Wi-Fi passwords, PINs, API keys, hex keys and more.
For safe handling afterwards there are two extras: the clipboard can clear itself automatically after 30 seconds so a copied password does not linger forever, and a local history shows you recently generated passwords in case you need one again. Both stay in your browser.
Crucially: no generated password ever leaves your device. There is no server contact, no transmission, no log. The generator runs entirely locally and works offline too - exactly how a password tool has to work to be trustworthy.
Features
Cryptographically random
Generated via the browser Web Crypto API, not the weak Math.random function.
Three modes
Classic password, memorable word passphrase or pronounceable key.
Configurable character set
Toggle upper, lower, digits and symbols individually, use a custom set or exclude ambiguous characters.
Strength, entropy and crack time
Every password is rated live - strength, entropy in bits and estimated crack time at a glance.
Passphrases in German or English
Memorable word chains with adjustable count, separator and capitalisation, mixed too.
Presets for common cases
Wi-Fi password, PIN, API key, hex key and more configured correctly in a single tap.
Clipboard self-clears
Optionally the copied password is automatically removed from the clipboard after 30 seconds.
Nothing leaves your device
No server contact, no transmission, no log. Runs locally and offline, with no account.
How it works
- 1
Choose a mode
Password, passphrase or pronounceable - depending on whether you need to remember it.
- 2
Set length and characters
Set the length and toggle upper, lower, digits and symbols, or pick a preset.
- 3
Generate and check strength
Tap Generate and read the entropy and crack time to see whether the password is strong enough.
- 4
Copy
Copy the password and enable the automatic clipboard clearing if you want it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the generator really secure?
Yes. Passwords are generated via your browser Web Crypto API, which provides cryptographically secure random numbers. Nothing is sent to a server, everything runs locally on your device.
What is a passphrase and why is it good?
A passphrase strings together several random words, such as "correct-horse-battery-staple". It is long and therefore very secure, yet still memorable - unlike a jumble of characters. Word count and separator are adjustable.
What does entropy in bits mean?
Entropy measures how much randomness is in your password. More bits means exponentially more possible combinations and therefore a longer crack time. As a rough guide, 80 bits and above is considered very secure.
Can I exclude confusable characters?
Yes. An option lets you exclude look-alike characters such as 0 and O or l, I and 1. That is handy when you have to type the password by hand or read it aloud.
Does my password stay in the clipboard?
Only if you want. Optionally the tool clears the clipboard automatically 30 seconds after copying, so the password does not linger there and get pasted somewhere by accident.
