Chess needs no grand introduction and yet a lifetime to master. Two armies, 64 squares, one goal: to trap the enemy king so it cannot escape. In between lie millions of possibilities, openings, traps and quiet moves. This chess brings all of that into the browser, with no installation and no signup.

You decide who you play. In the computer mode a built-in engine takes you on, and you can set it to three strengths: easy to warm up and for beginners, medium for a balanced game, and hard when you really want to be challenged. In the friend mode you share one device and move in turn - ideal for the sofa or a lunch break.

Every official rule is cleanly implemented, including the ones many apps quietly skip. Short and long castling, capturing en passant, pawn promotion when a pawn reaches the last rank, and correct detection of check, mate and stalemate. Illegal moves are simply not allowed, so you can focus on thinking.

As you move, the board highlights a piece legal squares so you do not have to guess where a knight actually jumps. The move history logs every game in standard notation so you can review your moves and learn from mistakes. Experienced players feel at home instantly, newcomers learn as they play.
