A letter from a German authority reliably triggers two reactions: a racing pulse and procrastination. Both are understandable, because German officialese is its own language - "Bekanntgabefiktion", "Bestandskraft", "Mitwirkungspflicht" - and somewhere in the third paragraph a deadline is usually ticking. The Amtspost-Eingang takes exactly this moment off your hands: photograph the letter or upload it as a PDF, and the tool explains what it actually says.

The most important sentence first: your letter never leaves your device. Text recognition runs entirely in the browser, on your computer or phone. On the first run the tool downloads a roughly 15 MB language pack once, after that everything happens locally. No upload, no server reading your Jobcenter notice. For a document that concerns your rent, your income or your family, that is not a nicety - it is the only correct way to build this.

From the recognized text, the Amtspost-Eingang then produces a translation into human. It detects the sender - Jobcenter, tax office, Familienkasse and others - and the type of notice, explains the typical officialese building blocks in plain language, analyzes the file reference and pulls out any amounts it finds. At a glance you see: who wants what from me, is money involved, and is this a notice I can push back against?

And then the deadlines, the part where real rights go to die. The tool finds explicit dates in the text as well as phrases like "within one month of notification". It calculates with the notification fiction - since 2025 a letter counts as notified on the fourth day after posting - and applies the deadline rules of §§ 187 to 193 BGB, including the shift to the next working day when a deadline lands on a weekend or public holiday. It knows holidays per federal state, because Corpus Christi means something different in Bavaria than in Hamburg.

One honest limit to close on: the Amtspost-Eingang explains and calculates, but it does not replace legal advice. For large amounts, complicated cases or whenever you are unsure, the notice also belongs in the hands of an advice center or a lawyer.
