What Current Calendar Week does
In Germany a big part of working life runs on calendar weeks. "Delivery in CW 34", "meeting in CW 12", "the project runs until CW 50" - if you work here, you cannot avoid the CW. Yet hardly anyone knows off the top of their head which week it currently is. Current Calendar Week answers that in a second and shows you the current number big and clear, along with the Monday-to-Sunday date span.
The calculation strictly follows ISO 8601, the standard used in Germany and across Europe. The week starts on Monday, and the first calendar week of a year is the one containing the first Thursday. That sounds pedantic, but it is exactly the difference where many simple calculators trip up: the turn of the year can mean 1 January still belongs to CW 52 of the previous year, or 31 December already belongs to CW 1 of the new year. This tool gets it right.
Beyond the current week you can page freely - forwards and backwards through the weeks, to see which CW a given date falls in or when a named CW starts and ends. The year overview lays out all the weeks of a year side by side so you can plan at a glance.
Public holidays are built in and follow the federal state. All 16 states are covered, including the movable holidays around Easter, which are determined correctly by computing the Easter date (Butcher's algorithm). So you see which holidays fall in your week - and since Corpus Christi is a holiday in Bavaria but not in Berlin, choosing your state matters.
Handy for holiday planning are the bridge days: single working days wedged between a public holiday and the weekend, with which you turn one day of leave into a long weekend. The tool also counts the actual working days of a week, that is weekdays minus holidays, so you know how much working time really applies.
Everything runs in the browser, no account and no data transfer. You can copy the current CW with one click to drop it into an email, a meeting proposal or a subject line. No flipping through paper calendars, no shaky mental maths at the turn of the year.

Who needs this
Frequently asked questions
What calendar week is it today?
The tool shows you the current calendar week the moment you open it, big and clear, along with the Monday-to-Sunday date span. It calculates per ISO 8601, the standard used in Germany.
How is the CW number calculated?
Per ISO 8601: the week starts on Monday, and the first calendar week of a year is the one containing the first Thursday. That is why 1 January can still belong to CW 52 of the previous year, or 31 December already to CW 1 of the new year.
Why do I have to pick my state?
Because public holidays in Germany are decided by each state. Corpus Christi applies in Bavaria but not Berlin, Reformation Day the other way round. Only with the correct state are the shown holidays, bridge days and working days accurate.
What are bridge days?
Bridge days are single working days wedged between a public holiday and the weekend. Take such a day off and one day of leave becomes a long weekend. The tool finds these days for your federal state.
Can I view another week or year?
Yes. You can page freely forwards and backwards to see the CW of any date, and open the year overview that lays out all the weeks of a year side by side.
