German Traffic Fine Catalog — BKatV & StVO
The fine catalog (BKatV) regulates penalties for traffic violations in Germany. It covers warnings (up to €55), fines, points in the driving fitness register (Flensburg), and driving bans. Legal basis: § 26a StVG with StVO.
Speeding — The Most Common Category
Speed violations include automatic tolerance deduction: 3 km/h for speeds up to 100 km/h, 3% above. Fines range from €20 (up to 10 km/h in town) to €800 (over 70 km/h in town) with up to 2 points and 3-month driving ban.
