The lifetime balance of your social contributions is a projection based on assumptions, not a bank statement - take it as food for thought, not cent-exact truth.

Соціальні внески за все життя

Every month a hefty chunk of your gross wage vanishes into health, pension, care and unemployment insurance - and your employer adds almost as much on top. The Lifetime Social Contributions tool adds this up over your entire working life and asks the question nobody else asks: what do you really pay in, and what do you get back?

Що вміє Соціальні внески за все життя

Social insurance is the biggest standing order of your life, and yet almost nobody sees the total. On the payslip stand a few percentages, debited monthly, barely noticed. The Lifetime Social Contributions tool turns them into a single honest figure: what flows together over 40 or 45 working years - from you and from your employer?

The tool calculates with the real 2026 contribution rates. Health insurance at 14.6 percent plus the average supplementary rate, pension insurance at 18.6 percent, unemployment insurance at 2.6 percent and care insurance at 3.6 percent, plus the childless surcharge of 0.6 percentage points that employees without children bear alone. Employer and employee split most contributions equally - the calculator shows both sides separately.

The contribution ceilings are the decisive cap. Contributions are only due up to a certain gross income: in health and care insurance up to 69,750 euros a year, in pension and unemployment insurance up to 101,400 euros. Anything you earn above is contribution-free. The calculator respects these ceilings so the lifetime balance doesn't overstate for high earners.

The employer share is the part hardly anyone factors in. It doesn't appear on your bank statement but is a real part of your labour cost - money that could theoretically be your gross wage. The lifetime balance makes this invisible second contribution visible and shows what employment costs you and your employer together.

The pension comparison gets interesting. Through your pension contributions you collect pension points, paid out at the current value (since 1 July 2026: 42.52 euros per point) per month. The calculator shows the pension in today's money: it assumes average wages and contribution ceilings grow at the same rate as your salary. Next to it are your pension contributions, also in today's money - an uncomfortable but important calculation that makes the pay-as-you-go system tangible.

One thing for context: social contributions are not a pure investment. Health insurance is cover in case of illness, unemployment insurance a safety net, care insurance partial cover - their value is not measured by the payout alone. The lifetime balance is therefore an educational tool, not a recommendation to opt out. It shows you in black and white which sums run through your working life so you can join the debate when the system is argued about.

Поширені запитання

How much do I pay into social insurance over a lifetime?

It depends on income and working years but quickly runs into six figures over a working life - your own share alone. Adding the employer share nearly doubles the total. The calculator determines your specific value.

Why is the employer share included?

Because it is a real part of your labour cost. It doesn't appear on your bank statement but is money your employer pays because of your employment. Without it the balance shows only half the truth.

What are the contribution ceilings?

The upper limits up to which your income is used for contributions. In 2026 they are 69,750 euros in health and care insurance and 101,400 euros in pension and unemployment insurance. Above that, no further contributions apply.

Do I get out more than I pay in?

For the pension it depends on life expectancy; the comparison assumes about 18 years of pension. But health, care and unemployment insurance are protections, not savings plans - their value lies in the cover, not the payout.

What is the childless surcharge?

A surcharge of 0.6 percentage points in care insurance that childless employees from age 23 bear alone. Those with children don't pay it. The calculator accounts for your status.

Is this tax or social advice?

No. The lifetime balance is an educational and transparency tool with realistic approximations. It does not replace individual advice or the binding pension statement from the Deutsche Rentenversicherung.
