Що вміє Швидка перевірка DSFA
The data protection impact assessment, or DPIA, is mandatory under Art. 35 GDPR when a processing operation is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of data subjects. Sounds simple, but it is not: when exactly is a risk high? Many companies avoid the question because it looks laborious - and overlook that a missed DPIA is itself a violation. The Quick Check breaks the question down into understandable individual aspects.
Instead of leaving you alone with the bare legal text, the tool asks you a manageable number of concrete questions. Do you process special categories of data such as health data? Is there systematic monitoring? Are data subjects evaluated or scored? Do you use new technologies? Each question is weighted, because not every risk factor carries the same weight.
From your answers the check calculates a score and assigns it to one of four risk levels - from low through medium and high to critical. As you move through the questionnaire, you see the running assessment shift along, so you get a feel for which answers tip the balance.
At the end there is more than a traffic light. The check names the critical factors that weigh especially heavily in your case and hands you concrete next steps - whether a full DPIA is indicated, whether a consultation with the supervisory authority is worth considering, or whether the risk is likely to stay low. It also provides the matching reference to the legal basis.
For context, the tool shows example scenarios with typical outcomes - such as video surveillance, applicant scoring or a simple newsletter. That way you see how factors play out in practice and can better judge your own case.
The Quick Check is explicitly a first orientation, not a conclusive legal assessment. It helps you recognise whether the DPIA topic is relevant for you and how urgent it is. Whether a DPIA is actually needed in your specific case and what it should look like is best decided together with your data protection officer or a professional.

While you answer, the risk level shifts along, so you see the effect of each answer.
Critical factors named
The check highlights which aspects weigh most heavily in your case.
Concrete next steps
You get a recommended course of action with a reference to the legal basis, not just a traffic light.

What is a DPIA?
The data protection impact assessment is a procedure under Art. 35 GDPR with which you assess in advance the risks of a planned processing operation for data subjects and define measures to mitigate them. It is mandatory when a high risk is likely.
Does the Quick Check replace a real DPIA?
No. The Quick Check only helps you judge whether a DPIA is required at all. The actual impact assessment is a separate, detailed procedure. The result is an orientation, not a binding legal assessment.
When is a DPIA mandatory?
Whenever a processing operation is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of data subjects. Typical triggers are large-scale processing of special data categories, systematic monitoring or extensive scoring. The supervisory authorities keep lists for this.
Are my answers stored?
No. The check calculates your result and then forgets your answers. To keep the result, save it as a PDF, print it or put it in your Aktenschrank. That gives you a record of your review.
What do I do with a high result?
A high or critical result is a clear signal to carry out a full DPIA and, if necessary, consult the supervisory authority. Discuss the next steps with a data protection professional.
