Operations: Twelve servers of our own at Hetzner Online GmbH in the Nuremberg data centre (NBG1): two load balancers, two app nodes, two database nodes, two Collabora nodes, one search node, one infrastructure node, one video node, one render node. Encryption

Werkzeu.ge control

In transit: TLS at the edge; the connections between servers run over a WireGuard network and a private certificate authority (step-ca). (source: werkzeuge-DEPLOYMENT-ARCH.md, verified 2026-09-06)
At rest: The database nodes are fully encrypted with LUKS. Credentials and secrets in the database are additionally encrypted with AES-256-GCM. (source: apps/web/src/lib/credential-crypto.ts, verified 2026-09-06)

Backup and restore

Werkzeu.ge control

Database: PostgreSQL with a continuously updated replica on the second database node; backups are kept locally and encrypted off-site and pruned after 30 days at most. Point-in-time recovery does not exist yet. (source: docs/legal/RETENTION-SCHEDULE.md, verified 2026-09-06)
Restore rehearsed: Before every database change the current production state is restored into a disposable database, migrated, dumped again and restored again; a fingerprint over the invoice data has to match before and after. Retention

Periods: Access logs 7 days at most; sessions 14 days at most; account and content until deletion plus a 14-day grace period and 30 days at most in backups; invoices and payment records for the statutory period, normally 8 and in defined cases up to 10 years; database backups 30 days at most.
