Image Converter

PNG to JPG, JPG to WebP, everything to AVIF - every program wants a different image format and something never fits. The image converter transforms between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP, in batches, with quality control and transparency preserved, right in the browser without an upload.

What Image Converter does

Image formats are a jungle. PNG is lossless and handles transparency but is needlessly large for photos. JPG is small and readable everywhere but has no transparency. WebP and AVIF are the modern all-rounders but are still not understood by some old software. The image converter translates between all of them so you always have exactly what your target requires.

The typical case: you have a PNG screenshot but the form wants a JPG. Or a designer hands you a BMP and your website needs WebP. Instead of opening an image editor, you drag the file in here, pick the target format and download the result. Seconds instead of a menu odyssey.

During conversion you stay in control of quality. For JPG, WebP and AVIF you set how heavily it compresses - from maximum sharpness to the smallest possible file. For lossless formats like PNG every pixel is preserved. So you decide whether image fidelity or file size matters more.

Transparency is handled cleanly. Convert a transparent PNG to WebP or AVIF and the see-through background is preserved. Going to JPG, which has no transparency, the background is filled in a controlled way instead of leaving ugly edges. The tool knows what has to happen for each format.

With batch processing you convert many images at once. A whole folder of PNGs becomes WebP for the web, a series of BMPs becomes JPG for the archive - one setting, one click, all files done. That saves enormous time if you regularly prepare images for different purposes.

The converter runs right in the browser, no signup and without your images wandering off to an outside server. It is fast, data-frugal and works offline for most formats. Image in, desired format out, no detours.

Adjustable quality

Set the trade-off between sharpness and file size yourself for JPG, WebP and AVIF.

Transparency preserved

See-through backgrounds survive the conversion, and going to JPG they are filled cleanly.

Batch processing

Convert a whole folder into the target format with a single setting at once.

Right in the browser

No upload, no signup, usable offline for most formats.

Web-optimised output

Modern codecs like WebP and AVIF cut load time without visibly hurting the image.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop in an image

Drag one or more files into the window - from any of the supported formats.

  2. 2

    Pick the target format

Decide where you are going: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or BMP.

  3. 3

    Set the quality

For compressed formats set how much sharpness or how little file size you want.

  4. 4

    Download

Take the converted image individually or the whole series at once.

Who needs this

→Web developers converting PNGs to WebP or AVIF for faster load times.
→Anyone who has to upload a PNG screenshot as a JPG to a form.
→Designers bringing exotic formats like BMP or TIFF into a standard one.
→Shop owners unifying a whole product image collection.
→Users who need images for software that only opens certain formats.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use PNG, when JPG?

PNG is lossless and ideal for graphics, logos and anything with transparency or sharp edges. JPG is much smaller and the right choice for photos without transparency. For modern websites WebP or AVIF are often the best mix of both.

What happens to transparency with JPG?

JPG cannot do transparency. When you convert a transparent image to JPG, the tool fills the see-through area with a background colour in a controlled way instead of leaving ugly edges. If you want to keep transparency, choose PNG, WebP or AVIF.

What is the advantage of AVIF and WebP?

Both compress much more than JPG or PNG at the same image quality, saving load time and storage. AVIF is usually a touch smaller than WebP. Both are supported by all current browsers.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Just upload several files, pick a target format and batch processing converts them all with the same setting.

Are my images uploaded?

The converter runs right in the browser. In most cases your images stay on your device, there is no signup and no permanent storage.
