Co potrafi Wort-Frequenz
A text reveals more through its word choice than you would think. Which terms dominate, which filler words creep in, which formulation you use three times on a page - you do not see any of it while writing, but the numbers show it mercilessly. Word frequency is the tool that breaks your text into its building blocks and counts.
The core is the frequency analysis. Word frequency lists the individual words by frequency, so the dominating terms stand at the top. Over 400 stop words for German and English can be filtered out, so the content-bearing words are laid bare and not the usual and, the, of leading the list.
Beyond individual words, the tool also counts word combinations. Bigrams show the most frequent two-word sequences, trigrams the most frequent three-word ones. This is exactly where favourite phrases and repetitions that stay inconspicuous at word level reveal themselves as patterns - the fastest way to find your own writing tic.
For visualization there are several views. The word cloud displays frequent words large and can be exported as PNG. The bar chart shows the top words as a ranking. The distribution view checks whether your text follows Zipf's law, by which in natural language the most frequent word occurs about twice as often as the second - a fascinating look at the statistics behind language.
The word-stem analysis groups inflected forms together. Go, goes, went and gone are the same word in different forms; via stemming they are reduced to the common stem, so the actual frequency of a term becomes visible rather than being scattered across its inflections.
The comparison mode sets two texts against each other. So you see which words occur more often in one than the other - handy for contrasting two versions, two authors or two topics. This is complemented by metrics like the type-token ratio, which measures word variety. All results can be exported as CSV or JSON.
Everything runs in your browser; your text never leaves your device. No signup, no transmission, no data collection. Whether you scrutinize your writing style, build a keyword profile for SEO or are simply curious which words carry your text - word frequency delivers the numbers and the pictures to go with them.

Częste pytania
What are bigrams and trigrams?
Bigrams are sequences of two consecutive words, trigrams of three. They make visible which word combinations and phrases you use most often - repetitions inconspicuous at the level of single words stand out clearly as patterns.
Why filter out stop words?
Without a filter, frequent function words like and, the or in lead every frequency list and hide the actual content words. The filter for over 400 German and English stop words blends them out, so the terms your text is really about become visible.
What is the Zipf distribution?
Zipf's law describes a regularity of natural language: the most frequent word occurs about twice as often as the second, three times as often as the third and so on. The distribution view shows how well your text follows this curve.
What does the word-stem analysis do?
It reduces inflected forms to their common stem, so go, goes and went are counted as one term. Without this step a word's frequency would be scattered across its inflections and underestimated.
Is my text stored?
No. The entire analysis runs in your browser; your text never leaves your device. No signup, no transmission to a server, no data collection. Exported files are created by your click on your device.
