Projects

Kanban boards with columns, WIP limits, milestones and time tracking - and at the end, one click turns your tracked hours into a draft invoice in the invoicing system. Project management that does not live in a US cloud and does not bury you in bloat. For freelancers and small teams who want projects not just planned but paid.

What Projects does

Most project management tools are built for corporations that hold meetings about meetings. You are a freelancer or a small team, and your problem is simpler: what needs doing, who does it, by when - and how do the hours turn into money at the end? Projekte answers exactly these four questions and leaves out the rest.

The heart is a Kanban board the way you know it: columns, cards, drag and drop. You create and reorder columns freely, and WIP limits keep twelve cards from rotting in "In progress" at once. Every card carries what a task needs: labels, checklists, due dates, comments with @mentions, watchers who get notified on changes. Milestones mark the points where your client expects a delivery.

Due dates are not decoration here. Every task with a deadline automatically lands in the Fristenwächter, your central deadline radar on werkzeu.ge. No maintaining two calendars: the board knows what is due when, and the Fristenwächter reminds you before things catch fire - right next to your tax dates and notice periods.

Time tracking is built in, not bolted on. One running timer - exactly one, so you do not accidentally "work on" three tasks at once - plus manual entries for everything you log in the evening. Every entry attaches to a task, every task to a project. So at the end of the month you know not just that you worked a lot, but on what.

And then the part Trello and Asana do not give you: billing. One click turns your billable hours into a draft invoice in the invoicing system. You set the hourly rate where it belongs - per entry, per task, per project or as a default - and amounts are rounded the proper commercial way. The draft then flows through the invoicing system GoBD-compliant as usual: number range, finalization, e-invoice, all standard. No Excel middle layer, no copy-pasting timesheets.

If you already work with the free Aufgabenplaner, just bring your tasks along: the import pulls them onto the board, nothing gets lost. And when your team grows, the boards grow with you - on the Pro plan you share boards with your organisation, everyone sees the same state, comments and mentions keep everyone on course.

All of it runs on German servers at werkzeu.ge, not with a vendor that mines your project data for product analytics. Your projects, your hours, your invoices - in one place, under your control.

Features

Kanban board with drag and drop

Create columns freely, move cards by drag and drop, WIP limits against doing too much at once. Milestones mark delivery dates.

Cards with everything that belongs

Labels, checklists, due dates, comments with @mentions and watchers who are notified automatically.

Deadlines land in the Fristenwächter

Every task with a deadline automatically appears in your central deadline radar. No second calendar, no forgotten deadline.

Time tracking with one timer

Exactly one running timer plus manual entries for logging later. Every hour attaches to task and project - nothing evaporates.

Billing: hours become an invoice

Billable time becomes a draft invoice in the invoicing system with one click. Rate per entry, task, project or as default, commercially rounded, processed GoBD-compliant.

Import from the Aufgabenplaner

Your tasks from the free Aufgabenplaner move onto the board with you. No fresh start, no retyping.

Team boards (Pro)

On the Pro plan you share boards with your organisation. Everyone sees the same state, comments and mentions keep the team in sync.

German servers, your data

Projects, hours and comments live on werkzeu.ge servers in Germany - not with a vendor that has its own plans for your data.

How it works

  1. 1

    Create a board

Start a new project, name your columns - say backlog, in progress, review, done - and set WIP limits if you like.

  2. 2

    Plan your tasks

Create cards or import from the Aufgabenplaner. Add labels, checklists and due dates - deadlines land in the Fristenwächter automatically.

  3. 3

    Track your time

Start the timer on a task when you begin, or log hours manually in the evening. Billable or internal - you mark it per entry.

  4. 4

    Work as a team

Comment with @mentions, add watchers to important cards and share the board with your organisation (Pro).

  5. 5

    Bill it

Click Abrechnen, review period and entries, confirm the rates - and the draft invoice sits in the invoicing system, ready for finalization.

Who needs this

→Freelancers planning client projects who have to bill the hours at the end.
→Agencies and consultancies invoicing by effort per project or client.
→Small teams that want Trello-style boards without a US cloud and data side effects.
→Craftsmen and service providers handling jobs in stages with milestones.
→Anyone who has outgrown the Aufgabenplaner and needs structure plus time tracking.

Frequently asked questions

How do my hours become invoices?

You mark time entries as billable and click Abrechnen. Projekte creates a draft invoice in the invoicing system from them - with your hourly rate (stored per entry, task, project or as a default) and proper commercial rounding. The draft then goes through the regular invoicing system: sequential number range, GoBD finalization, e-invoice if you want. You review and finalize, nothing leaves unseen.

Is this a Trello or Asana alternative?

For freelancers and small teams: yes. You get Kanban boards with drag and drop, labels, checklists, comments and due dates - plus two things missing there: time tracking with direct billing into the invoicing system, and data on German servers instead of a US cloud. What you do not get: Gantt charts, portfolio views and a hundred automation rules. That is deliberate.

Can I bring my tasks over from the Aufgabenplaner?

Yes. The import pulls your tasks from the free Aufgabenplaner straight onto the board. You do not start from zero - you just sort your existing tasks into columns.

Can several people work on the same board?

Yes, on the Pro plan. There you share boards with your organisation: everyone sees the same state, comments with @mentions notify the right people, watchers stay in the loop automatically. On the Plus plan you work solo with the full feature set including time tracking and billing.

What does Projekte cost?

Projekte is part of the Plus plan (16.99 euros per month or 169.90 euros per year, VAT included) - together with the invoicing system, the Fristenwächter and the rest of the Plus tools. Shared team boards need Pro (25.99 euros per month or 259.90 euros per year). Until November 30, 2026 there is tiered founder pricing - the earlier you join, the cheaper, and your price stays locked for as long as you stay subscribed.

Why only one running timer?

Because you only work on one thing at a time - even if your calendar disagrees. Start a new timer and the old one stops. That keeps your time tracking honest and your invoices defensible. For everything you forgot, there are manual entries to log later.
