Speicherplatz-Rechner neler yapar
Storage sizes are a perennial muddle. The drive maker advertises a terabyte, the operating system shows less, and nobody knows off the top of their head how many megabytes are actually in a gigabyte. The storage calculator clears this up: you enter a value and a unit, and it instantly converts it into every other unit from bytes to exabytes, neatly in a table.
The root of the whole misunderstanding is the difference between binary and decimal. Computers work in powers of two, so with the factor 1024: 1 kibibyte is 1024 bytes, 1 gibibyte is 1024 mebibytes. Storage makers, on the other hand, advertise in round thousands, so with the factor 1000: 1 kilobyte is 1000 bytes. That is exactly why your 1 TB drive looks smaller in the system. The calculator separates both worlds with a switch and names the units correctly, so KiB and GiB in binary mode, KB and GB in decimal mode.
So the numbers do not stay abstract, there are the vivid comparisons. The calculator translates your storage size into everyday quantities: how many photos of five megabytes each, how many hours of high-quality music, how many episodes at a good resolution, or how many text documents fit in. That gives you an instant feel for whether 256 gigabytes is a lot or a little for you.
The calculator is handy for copying too. You grab any single value into the clipboard with one click, or you copy the entire conversion table in one go. That saves typing when you want to carry a size into documentation, a quote or a message.
You can enter numbers with a comma or a dot, whichever suits you. Enter something nonsensical, like letters or a negative number, and instead of a dry warning you get a little quip with a wink. And the compact summary at the bottom additionally shows your size in the other counting scheme, so you see binary and decimal right next to each other.
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no signup and no data transfer. Your entries stay on your device, and the tool works offline too. Exactly as data-frugal as a simple converter should be.
Özellikler
Every unit from byte to exabyte
Bytes, KB, MB, GB, TB, PB and EB are all converted at once and listed clearly in a table.
Binary and decimal cleanly separated
A switch toggles between the factor 1024 (KiB, GiB) and 1000 (KB, GB) with correctly named units.
Vivid comparisons
How many photos, hours of music, episodes or documents fit in? The calculator makes abstract sizes tangible.
Copy a single value or the whole table
Grab any value to the clipboard with a click, or copy the entire conversion in one go.
Dual display for cross-check
The compact summary also shows your size in the other counting scheme, binary next to decimal.
Comma or dot
Enter numbers in German or English notation. The output follows your language.

Nasıl çalışır
- 1
Modu seç
Choose binary (1024) or decimal (1000). Binary matches what your operating system shows.
- 2
Enter value and unit
Type the number and pick the unit from the list, for example 1 and GB. The conversion appears instantly.
- 3
Read the table and comparisons
Every unit appears converted in the table, with the vivid comparisons to photos, music and more below.
- 4
Copy values
Click a single value or Copy all to carry the conversion into your document or message.
Kimin işine yarar
Sık sorulan sorular
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
A gigabyte (GB) is 1000 megabytes in decimal, so 1000 to the power of three bytes. A gibibyte (GiB) is 1024 mebibytes in binary, so 1024 to the power of three bytes. Operating systems usually count in binary while storage makers advertise in decimal, which is why capacity seems to shrink.
Why does my 1 TB drive show less?
The maker counts 1 TB as 1000 to the power of four bytes (decimal), but your operating system usually counts in 1024 to the power of four (binary) and often still calls it TB. The same amount of data is about 931 GiB. Set the calculator to binary to see exactly that value.
How many photos fit on 256 GB?
Enter 256 and GB, and under the comparisons the calculator shows how many photos of five megabytes each fit in, plus hours of music and episodes. The exact number depends on the real file size of your photos.
Can I copy all converted values at once?
Yes. The Copy all button places the entire conversion table as text into your clipboard. You copy individual values with a click directly in the table.
Which units does the calculator cover?
Bytes, kilo-, mega-, giga-, tera-, peta- and exabytes, each in binary notation (KiB, MiB, GiB and so on) and decimal notation (KB, MB, GB and so on).
Girdilerim saklanıyor mu?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, with no account and no data transfer. The tool works offline too.
