Cosa sa fare Einheiten-Umrechner - Convertitore di unità
Converting units sounds trivial until you are mid-recipe and need to know how many millilitres a German tablespoon holds, or someone offers you a plot of land measured in Morgen and you have no idea whether that is a lot. The unit converter covers eleven categories - length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, data, pressure, energy and power - with ten or more units each.
What sets it apart is the German grounding. Alongside metre, kilogram and Celsius it knows the old and regional units that still crop up in daily life: the German Pfund (500 g, not the imperial 453 g), the Zentner (50 kg) and Doppelzentner, the Morgen and Tagwerk for land, the Elle and Klafter, the Schoppen for wine and the German cup (150 ml) for baking.
Conversion is live and works both ways. Type a value on one side and the result appears instantly on the other - and you can just as easily edit the target side and convert backwards. Decimals with a comma or a dot, negative values, it all works. One click swaps the two units.
Temperature is a special case because it is not just multiplied by a factor. Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, Reaumur, Rankine and even the oven gas mark are converted correctly through their respective formulas. It will not let you slip below absolute zero (minus 273.15 Celsius) and warns you instead.
For the classics there are ready-made presets and a collection of German special conversions - "how much is 5 Morgen in square metres?", "how heavy is a Zentner?", "180 Celsius, which gas mark?". Conversions you use often can be saved as favourites, and a search across all categories finds any unit even when you cannot remember which category it lives in.
Everything runs in the browser, without signup and without any value leaving your device. Favourites are stored locally in your browser. Fast, usable offline, and with a few bureaucracy and unit facts in the loading hints to keep even the wait entertaining.

Domande frequenti
How much does a Zentner weigh?
The German Zentner is 50 kilograms, the Doppelzentner is 100 kilograms. Note: the historical Zentner was defined differently in other countries. The converter uses the definition common in Germany.
Is the German Pfund the same as the English pound?
No. The German Pfund is a clean 500 grams, while the imperial pound (lb) is 453.592 grams. The converter keeps both separate so you do not mix them up in a recipe or at the shop.
How large is a Morgen?
In the converter a Morgen is 2,500 square metres and a Tagwerk is 3,407 square metres. Historically these field measures varied a lot by region because they originally meant the area workable in a day - the values here are common approximations.
Does it convert Celsius to oven gas marks?
Yes. The temperature category includes the oven gas mark. 180 Celsius is roughly gas mark 4. The mapping follows the standard British table and is an approximation, not an exact formula.
Can I type with a comma or a dot?
Both work. You can enter 3.5 or 3,5, and negative values are allowed too. The result is formatted in the notation of your language.
